Ex-Google Chairman: Ethereum Has Major Potential
Former Chairman of Google Inc. Eric Schmidt believes that the Ethereum network has a good potential to become a truly powerful platform.
In an interview with economist Tyler Cowen, the billionaire said that the blockchain is overrated in the public format, and vice versa, underrated in terms of technical use. Eric Schmidt added that blockchain was a great platform for cryptocurrencies. The technology is also important for private banking transactions, where people don’t trust each other.
Note that Eric Schmidt is also one of the early adherents of bitcoin. He was introduced to cryptocurrency by Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in 2011.
Other Google executives are also interested in cryptocurrencies. For example, in the summer, co-founder of the corporation Sergey Brin admitted that, together with his 10-year-old son, he is engaged in Ethereum mining. In November, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai said that his 11-year-old son was also mining Ethereum on his home computer.
