SpankChain Claims It Got Back Stolen Cryptocurrencies
Blockchain-based platform for adults SpankChain reports that the hacker who had stolen $38 000 worth of Ethereum and project’s native tokens BOOTY returned cryptocurrencies back to the project.
According to the platform’s statement, after speaking to SpankChain CEO Ameen Soleimani on phone, the hacker sent the private key with all the funds to the service.
To prove it, the project representatives provided a link to the corresponding transaction.
The hacker also helped SpankChain to restore 4000 BOOTY tokens which got frozen because of the attack. As it is claimed, they were bought for $4000.
The hacker was rewarded with $5000 and 5,5 Eth that had been used to hack the platform. The total amount of SpankChain’s material losses is $9 000.
Earlier, the project’s team claimed that the funds were stolen because of “reentrancy” bug, much like the one exploited in The DAO in 2016.
