Coinbase To Enter Japanese Market In 2019
American company Coinbase is going to enter Japanese market next year, Mike Lempres, chief policy officer at Coinbase told the Nikkei Asian Review.
Coinbase is negotiating with Japan’s Financial Services Authority regarding license acquisition now, the negotiation process “is going well”. Lempres says they will certainly get it done in 2019.
The Japanese government is serious about security issue and it is good for Coinbase, as Lempres says.
Let us note that hack of cryptocurrency exchange Zaif has become a reason for tightening control over the market.
Lempres also noted that Japan has high demand for a reliable service supplier in the cryptocurrency area, and Coinbase is ready to become one.
To recap, Coinbase announced a plan to enter Japanese market in 2016. The exchange set up a branch office there in June.
