Dubai Was The First To Develop A Blockchain-Based Payment System To Pay For Public Services
According to Dailyhodl, Dubai residents can now pay off bills, pay for goods and school tuition in emCash. This is possible due to the cooperation of blockchain platforms Pundi X and Ebooc Fintech & Loyalty Labs.
Last year, Dubai authorities issued the state cryptocurrency emCash, which is essentially the digital equivalent of the UAE dirham. Pundi X developed a blockchain platform where users can pay for purchases and utilities.
Dubai was the first city in the world to develop a blockchain-based payment system to pay for public services. The city authorities are interested in innovations and want to turn the capital of the UAE into a city of the future. Apparently, these ambitious plans will not remain on paper, but will be implemented in practice.
